We were honored and thrilled that California State Controller Betty Yee chose to announce her endorsement of Carolyn Ramsey in the runoff for the Los Angeles City Council District 4 seat at our post-March election networking breakfast! Citing a "kinship" to Ramsey, Controller Yee expressed her support for Ramsey's work ethic and commitment to CD4. We are proud that Controller Yee shares NWPC LA Westside's commitment to expanding the ranks of qualified and talented women committed to public service and look forward to working with the Controller for Ramsey's victory.
In addition to Controller Yee's big announcement, Dr. Jackie Filla, Mount St. Mary's University professor of Political Science, provided important details and perspective from the recently released 2015 report on the Status of Women and Girls in California.

NWPC LA Westside Represented at Mayor Eric Garcetti Press Conference on First Ever Report on Status of Women and Girls In Los Angeles, conducted by Mount St. Mary's University
NWPC LA Westside Board Members Karriann Farrell Hinds, Robyn Ritter Simon, and Tori Wender attended Mayor Eric Garcetti's March 31st, 2015 press conference announcing the release of the findings from the first study regarding the status of women in Los Angeles conducted by Mount St. Mary's University. While Mayor Garcetti expressed pride that his administration has successfully placed women throughout all levels of appointed office in LA government, he noted that much work remains to successfully close the gap between the achievements of women and men. Mayor Garcetti is using findings from the Mount St. Mary's report to guide his administration in setting an agenda and policies to work with City Council and all city departments to achieve gender parity in Los Angeles.
More information from the report, which focuses both on demographics as well as provides data on women in leadership, can be found on Mayor Garcetti's website at www.lamayor.org/statusofwomen
