Board Member Spotlight: Sarah Truby


Sarah Truby is particularly passionate about LGBT and women’s issues’ intersection with public policy. She is currently a Development Associate at Equality California, the largest statewide LGBT organization in the country. Sarah also sits on the L.A. Leadership Council at The Williams Institute at UCLA Law School.  

She interned at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles in their Public Affairs department, where she became more involved in political advocacy. Sarah has previously served as the Gender Equality & Domestic Violence Liaison with the Los Angeles Fire Department, which also led her working closely with the Los Angeles Police Department on gender and LGBT initiatives. Previously, Sarah has worked at RRS Political Strategies as the Director of Social Media and Development (under our very own Robyn Ritter Simon!), interned in the Public Affairs Department at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, as a Fundraising Manager for current Councilmember Lindsey Horvath’s campaign, and as a Co-Chair for the Rainbow Alliance Caucus for the USC School of Social Work. 

Sarah received her BA in Women and Gender Studies with a minor in Human Sexuality from San Francisco State University and her Master in Public Health from the University of Southern California. Sarah is currently working on a Certification in Fundraising from the University of California, Los Angeles.
