The National Women’s Political Caucus of Los Angeles County
Endorses Wendy Greuel for Mayor
The National Women's Political Caucus of Los Angeles County has announced its endorsement of Wendy Greuel, running to serve as the first woman Mayor of Los Angeles.
"Wendy Greuel is exceptionally and
uniquely qualified to lead Los Angeles as our Mayor and the National Women's
Political Caucus of Los Angeles County is incredibly proud to endorse her
campaign. Los Angeles is ready for its first woman Mayor and NWPC is
going to work very hard to help Wendy get elected," said Marguerite
Cooper, Chair, National Women’s Political Caucus LA County.
"When women vote, women win. NWPC's support sends a powerful message to voters who care about equality and women's health," said Wendy Greuel. "I am deeply honored to earn the endorsement of NWPC and continue our work together. As Mayor of the second largest city in the country, I intend to be a national leader to involve women in the political process."
Wendy understands first-hand the need to elect more women in our city, and has taken action to ensure gender equality in politics becomes a reality. Wendy has been a mentor and supporter of many women candidates in the City of Los Angeles and across the state, including mentoring a woman to run for her seat her when she left her position on the City Council.

As
a strong champion for women and girls, Wendy worked closely with the LAPD and advocate community to ensure
the LAPD implemented all recommendations to fully eliminate the DNA rape kit
backlog, and as Controller did two follow-up audits to make sure the LAPD was
following through on their promise to test every DNA rape kit and bring justice
to the thousands of rape victims in Los Angeles.
In the 1980’s, Wendy fought
against Operation Rescue’s anti-abortion efforts to ensure all women had access
to safe reproductive health care. Recently, she fought against the threats to
cut funding to Planned Parenthood and urged Congress to reauthorize
comprehensive Violence Against Women’s Act.
