Serena Josel serves as the Director of Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles and Deputy Director of the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles County—a 501(c)4 advocacy organization that works to elect candidates and enact public policies that protect sexual health care and education.
Since joining Planned Parenthood in 2005, Serena has worked to defeat anti-choice ballot measures and elect champions of women’s health in several states, including California, Alaska, Virginia, and Mississippi.
Serena's commitment to reproductive freedom began in college when she interned at NARAL Pro-Choice New York, helping to pass the Women’s Health & Wellness Act and elect Senator Hillary Clinton.
Originally from New York, Serena graduated cum laude from New York University with a B.A. in Politics. In 2010 she joined the Board of the National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC) L.A. Westside chapter and currently serves as the organization’s PAC Chair.
We are the National Women’s Political Caucus Los Angeles Westside (NWPC LA Westside), a multi-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to increasing women’s participation in the political process and creating a women’s political power base to achieve equality for all women. We endorse women for public office. We work to recruit, train, and support pro-choice women candidates for elected and appointed offices and at all levels of government.
